The simplicity of white and the strength of black is always a favourite for designers in both fashion and design. The contrast of Black & White in graphic design adds detail to typography and form while drawing the eye to the design rather than the mood set by other options on the colour spectrum. The design is given a chance to stand alone without unnecessary frills.

Typography details are also more legible against a contrasting background where serifs and thin strokes are easily read. Black on white is seen to be the most legible contrast but in truth an off white/cream against a black text is the most legible. As a designer I appreciate designs that use monochrome colour as the typography and design detailing tends to be strong and dynamic.

Take a look at my pinterest board that shows some great examples.
